ATS Sorbent Media

BASF, the world's largest chemical company, acquired Engelhard Corporation in June 2006. This recent integration helps to create the best team in the industry - bringing together BASF's international strength and Engelhard's strong reputation for innovation and quality. At Surfatas, we're delighted to collaborate with organizations that bring real value and technical expertise to our customers.

As a pioneer in dissolved metals adsorption, Engelhard developed and patented ATS powder media for the reduction of Lead in drinking water - commonly viewed as the "gold standard." Typically, it is pressed or extruded in carbon blocks.

ATS sorbent media is also a technical platform enabling product extensions including a new granular form. This creates a new portfolio of materials in granular or block forms to reduce dissolved metals, from Aluminum to Zinc.

At Surfatas, we proudly represent the full product portfolio of new BASF adsorbent technology materials for POE/POU markets. Regardless of where you are in the world, we can help you obtain the appropriate BASF adsorbent material you require.

BASF water purification adsorbent technology materials include the following solutions:

  • Activated Carbon Impregnated with ATS Adsorbent
    - The first extension of the ATS sorbent media platform technology - incorporating ATS onto the surface of high activity carbon granules. Mesh size can be varied to fit any water filtration application. ATC granules provide high-value Chlorine and Lead reduction in drinking water. Now removes Trihalomethanes!
  • ATS Adsorbent
    - As the ATS sorbent media in powder form, ATS powder is an adsorbent with a high capacity for removal of lead and heavy metals from water. It can reduce lead to non-detectable levels (<1 ppb). Improved version now available!
